REGEN Burners

Encon Thermal Engineers has developed a range of Low NOx Regenerative Burners in association with Swiss Melting Technologies S.A.

A regenerative burner is a combustion heating system designed for extremely high recovery of exhaust heat from an industrial furnace – The combustion air can be preheated to a temperature very close to the process temperature – Thanks to the regenerator technology. There are analyses that have found 25-30% reduction in heating fuel consumption in a steel billet Reheating Furnace after ordinary burners with recuperators were replaced by Regenerative Burners.

This system has been specifically adopted and popularized in relatively high temperature furnaces, including reheating furnaces for rolling, forging furnaces, heat treatment furnaces, melting furnaces, baking furnaces, as a superb means for saving cost energy and reducing CO2 emission.

For their REGEN Burners, Encon Thermal Engineers were judged as “WINNER for Innovation challenge 2019 for Waste Heat Recovery” by Facility for Low Carbon Technology Deployment (FLCTD): https://www.low-carbon-innovation.org/whr-winners-2019.

Our burner can be used with various Gaseous & Liquid fuels like:

GASEOUS FUELS : LPG, Natural Gas, Producer/ Syn Gas, Coke Oven Gas, Blast Furnace Gas, etc

LIQUID FUEL : Diesel, LDO, HFO, FO, pyrolysis oil, etc

We also offer Multiple fuel option in the same burner.

CONTACT US AT mdo@encon.co.in for live demonstration of the burners at our works.

BURNER Design : Each regenerative burner consists of the following main parts

1. Burner with Nozzles and burner Block

2. Regenerator box with Media Balls

3. LPG/NG Pilot burner with UV sensor and Ignition Transformer

We have designed the burners for two modes of operations, Low NOx Flameless operation and a normal flame operation, FLAMELESS mode of application can be selected for process temperatures higher than 800 °C. The NOx emissions ca reduce between 20 to 80% depending on the process temperature and parameters between the Normal and Low NOx flameless mode, For more information PLEASE CONTACT US at mdo@encon.co.in

WORKING OF REGEN BURNERS

In Mode A, Burner A fires and Burner B act as a regenerator or heat sink, the flue gas is sucked by Burner B, the flue gas travels through the media box of Burner B to the chimney, The Media box is filled with Ceramic balls which absorbs up to 85% of the heat of the flue gasses.
In Mode B, the process is reversed and Burner A act as the regenerator and Burner B fires, In this case combustion air passes through the hot media and we are able to achieve a Combustion air temperature which is approximately 200 to 300°C below the process temperature depending on the process parameters, for example if the process temperature is 1200 °C we will be able to achieve a temperature of 900 to 1000 °C for the combustion air.
